In this exercise, we will learn about stormwater Output Animation

Output Animations

The Output Animation dialog box allows us to create a temporal simulation of the Profile Plot.

To perform an Output Animation:

  1. Open the practice file 06.03-ANALYSIS-Animation.spf or keep working with the file from the previous lesson.
  2. We first need to have a Profile Plot. If you closed the Profile Plot, we previously did, recreate it again. If not, activate the Profile View Tab.

  1. The profile View is now displayed.

  1. Run the Output Animation command from the menu.

  1. The Output Animation dialog player is displayed with the control button to play, pause, record, forward, rewind.

  1. Before clicking on Play, let’s set the animation to the highest speed. Also, move it to a place on the screen that will not obstruct our view of the profile. Then click on Play.  We can see how, with time, the water level rises and falls in the profile view.

  1. If needed, we can also record the simulation.


  1. We can then export it as a media file we can submit to a peer for review.
