In this exercise, we will learn about Civil 3D Survey equipment databases.

 Equipment Databases

The second database of the Survey Tab is the Equipment Database. This is where we input specific information for each equipment used by our survey crews. We can enter its calibration, standards, EDM, Prism characteristics, and many other specifications for each equipment. We can refer to the manufacturer's recommended specifications to fill out this window. For now, we will stick with the default values when we created a new equipment.

To create a new equipment:

1. Let's right-click on the Equipment Databases collection and select New.

2. In the New Equipment Database window, we can provide the name of the new equipment, XYZ Total Station, for example. We recommend using the brand and model name of the equipment to make it easier to differentiate.

3. The new Equipment will now appear in the database collection.

4. We can right-click on it to Manage its parameters, copy it, make it current, or refresh it.
